Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Smiloo. By downloading, installing, or using Smiloo, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Smiloo ("the App"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Smiloo is a mobile application that helps users manage their app usage by:
- Blocking access to selected apps during focus sessions
- Using facial expression detection to temporarily unlock blocked apps
- Providing focus modes with different levels of restriction
- Tracking usage statistics locally on your device
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Smiloo. By using the App, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 13 years of age
- You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
- You will use the App in accordance with these Terms and applicable laws
4. Permissions and Access
4.1 Required Permissions
Smiloo requires platform-specific permissions to function:
Android
On Android devices, Smiloo requires:
- Camera: For facial expression detection to unlock apps
- Accessibility Service: To detect when blocked apps are launched
- Usage Statistics: To identify which apps are being used
- Display Over Other Apps: To show blocking overlays
- Package Query: To list installed apps for selection
iOS
On iOS devices, Smiloo requires:
- Camera: For facial expression detection to unlock apps
- Family Controls Authorization: To access Apple's Screen Time API for app blocking
- DeviceActivity Framework Access: To monitor app usage and schedule blocking periods
You may revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings, but doing so may limit or disable App functionality.
4.2 Platform-Specific Services
Android Accessibility Service
Smiloo uses Android's Accessibility Service to provide app blocking functionality. By enabling this service, you acknowledge that:
- The service is used solely for app blocking purposes
- No data collected by the service is transmitted to external servers
- You can disable the service at any time through Android Settings
iOS Family Controls
Smiloo uses Apple's Family Controls framework and DeviceActivity framework to provide app blocking functionality on iOS. By enabling these services, you acknowledge that:
- These services are used solely for app blocking purposes
- App blocking on iOS is handled through Apple's native Screen Time infrastructure
- No data collected by these services is transmitted to external servers
- You can revoke Family Controls authorization at any time through iOS Settings > Screen Time
- Smiloo uses Shield extensions to display blocking interfaces when blocked apps are accessed
5. User Responsibilities
5.1 Appropriate Use
You agree to use Smiloo only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:
- Use the App to violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the App
- Use the App to interfere with or disrupt other users' devices or services
- Use the App for any commercial purpose without explicit permission
- Share your account or access credentials with others
5.2 Device Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your device
- Keeping your device's operating system updated
- Protecting your device from unauthorized access
- Backing up any important data stored on your device
6. App Blocking Functionality
Important: Smiloo's app blocking feature is designed to help you manage your app usage. However, you acknowledge that:
- App blocking may interfere with time-sensitive communications or emergency situations
- You should not rely solely on the App for critical app access
- The App may not block all apps or methods of access
- You are responsible for managing your own app usage and device access
7. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
7.1 Subscription Management
Smiloo offers premium features through subscription plans and one-time purchases managed by RevenueCat:
- Subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
- RevenueCat manages subscription verification, renewals, and entitlements
- Subscription prices and terms are displayed at the time of purchase
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
7.2 Payment and Billing
By purchasing a subscription or making an in-app purchase:
- You agree to pay the price displayed at the time of purchase
- Payment will be charged to your App Store or Google Play account
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions through your device's app store settings
- Refunds are subject to Apple's and Google's refund policies
7.3 Subscription Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time:
- iOS: Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions, then select Smiloo and cancel
- Android: Go to Google Play Store > Subscriptions, then select Smiloo and cancel
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
- You will continue to have access to premium features until the end of the paid period
7.4 RevenueCat
Smiloo uses RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. By using Smiloo's subscription features, you acknowledge that:
- RevenueCat processes subscription data and transaction information
- RevenueCat's services are subject to their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat may share necessary data with Apple and Google to process transactions

8. Facial Expression Detection
8.1 Camera Usage
Smiloo uses your device's camera for facial expression detection:
- Camera data is processed in real-time using MediaPipe technology (processed locally on your device) and is not recorded or stored
- No images or video are saved to your device
- Expression detection processing happens locally on your device
- You can disable camera access at any time through device settings
8.2 Accuracy
Facial expression detection may not be 100% accurate due to:
- Lighting conditions
- Camera quality
- Facial positioning
- Other environmental factors
Smiloo does not guarantee perfect detection accuracy and is not responsible for any consequences resulting from detection failures.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 Our Rights
Smiloo and all related content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
9.2 Third-Party Technology
Smiloo uses third-party technologies including:
- MediaPipe: Google's open-source framework for facial detection
- Capacitor: Cross-platform app framework
- RevenueCat: Subscription management and in-app purchase platform
- Apple Family Controls & DeviceActivity: iOS frameworks for app blocking and usage monitoring (iOS only)
These technologies are subject to their respective licenses and terms of service. By using Smiloo, you also agree to:
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Accuracy or reliability of any information provided
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or use
- Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the App
- Any consequences of app blocking functionality
- Any issues arising from facial expression detection failures
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (if any) or $10, whichever is greater.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Smiloo and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another party
13. Privacy
Your use of Smiloo is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we handle your information. By using the App, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in the Privacy Policy.
14. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Posting the updated Terms on this page
- Updating the "Last Updated" date
- Providing in-app notification for significant changes (if applicable)
Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
15. Termination
15.1 By You
You may stop using Smiloo at any time by:
- Uninstalling the App from your device
- Android: Disabling the Accessibility Service
- iOS: Revoking Family Controls authorization in iOS Settings > Screen Time
- Revoking required permissions through your device settings
- Managing your subscription through your device's app store or RevenueCat
15.2 By Us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause or notice, for any reason including:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
- Technical or security issues
16. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [Your Jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts of [Your Jurisdiction].
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Smiloo regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
